Renowned shock rock figure Alice Cooper has revealed his plans to release a new album, his first in over 50 years. The album, titled “The Revenge of Alice Cooper,” is a joint effort with his original band members. Cooper made the exciting announcement on his official Instagram account, hinting at the album’s scheduled release in July. In an interview with Billboard, Cooper shared his enthusiasm for the project, comparing it to the band’s previous work in the early 1970s. Despite the lengthy hiatus, Cooper experienced a seamless transition into their new album, which he likened to a natural progression after all these years.

The album marks a significant reunion for Cooper and his bandmates, including guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neil Smith. The absence of guitarist Glen Buxton, who passed away in 1997, was deeply felt but honored through the album dedication. To pay tribute to Buxton, two of his old demo tape riffs are featured on the album. Additionally, the album boasts 14 new tracks, along with a bonus remix of “Titanic Overunderture” from their debut album “Pretties For You,” and a remake of Yardbirds’ “I Ain’t Done Wrong” from 1965.

Cooper plans to introduce the album’s first single, “Black Mamba” on his radio show, “Alice’s Attic,” set to air soon. Delving into the band’s darker and heavier sound, Cooper expressed his desire to capture the original spirit of the Alice Cooper Band. He emphasized the collaborative nature of the project, highlighting the band’s equal contribution to the album’s creation. With each member having a say in the music-making process, Cooper found himself relinquishing control in favor of a more democratic and cohesive approach to music production.

Recording sessions for “The Revenge” took place across various locations, including Nashville, Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Toronto. Despite the album’s release, Cooper remains non-committal about the possibility of a full-fledged tour. He hinted at the logistical challenges of staging a tour after such a long hiatus but left open the possibility of select performances in key cities. Cooper envisions short sets in intimate venues as potential tour stops, allowing him and his bandmates to share their music with fans in a more intimate setting.

In conclusion, Alice Cooper’s return to the music scene with his original bandmates marks a momentous occasion for fans of the legendary rockstar. The upcoming album promises a nostalgic yet fresh sound, honoring the band’s legacy while paving the way for new musical adventures. With new tracks, bonus remixes, and a dedication to their fallen bandmate, “The Revenge of Alice Cooper” signals a triumphant return for the godfather of shock rock.
