Primal Scream Reveals New Remix Album ‘Come Ahead’ and Tour Dates
Primal Scream is set to release a new remix album titled Come Ahead: The Remixes Vol 1 (Vocals) on 28 March 2025, in anticipation of their upcoming UK and Ireland tour starting on 31 March. The album will showcase eleven remixed tracks from their latest critically acclaimed album, Come Ahead. A supplementary collection of dub mixes, Come Ahead: The Remixes Vol 2 (Dubs), is also in the works and will be revealed soon.
The genesis of The Come Ahead Remix project began with legendary UK house figure Terry Farley and Wade Teo’s remix of ‘Ready To Go Home’, which quickly became a sensation in clubs last summer, paying homage to Farley’s iconic remixes for Primal Scream dating back to the days of ‘Loaded’ and ‘Come Together.’ Subsequently, remixes of ‘Ready To Go Home’ by Tim Goldsworthy and ‘Love Ain’t Enough’ and ‘Love Insurrection’ by Black Science Orchestra were released, followed by ‘Innocent Money’ by PSB King Of The World with Neil Tennant’s distinctive vocals, marking an entrance into 2025.
Frontman Bobby Gillespie expressed gratitude for the slew of talented individuals who contributed their innovative remixes to the Come Ahead album, reflecting the legacy left behind by the late Andrew Weatherall in his remix work on Screamadelica. He hinted at a potential future release of the remixes on 12” vinyl, alongside the delightful dub mixes. The latest remix video for ‘Innocent Money,’ directed by acclaimed video director Douglas Hart, known for his longstanding collaboration with Primal Scream, is now available for viewing.
Primal Scream’s Come Ahead album received widespread acclaim upon its November 2024 release, hailed as one of their best works by MOJO and labeled as the “album of the year” by the Evening Standard in a glowing five-star review. Record Collector noted a revitalized sound in the band, while AnOther Magazine praised the album’s jubilant essence. CLASH dubbed Come Ahead as another high point in Primal Scream’s illustrious career, with Classic Pop asserting the band’s renewed importance in the music landscape.
The upcoming Come Ahead Tour will commence on 31 March, spanning 14 headline shows across the UK and Ireland, with the final tickets still available for purchase. The tour will feature support from Baxter Dury in selected cities, along with Fat White Family in London. Following their performances in Australia and Japan earlier this year, Primal Scream is scheduled to continue The Come Ahead Tour across Europe and North America throughout the summer of 2025.
