Chamie McCurry, the General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer at Danny Wimmer Presents, shared her favorite show of 2024, Bourbon & Beyond, stating that it goes beyond music, bourbon, and food to embody a celebration of everything she loves with the people closest to her.

In the event industry, success relies not only on a strong brand but also on a dedicated team. According to McCurry, the workplace culture plays a crucial role in the success of events delivered by Danny Wimmer Presents, impacting both the artists on stage and the fans. McCurry has focused on enhancing workplace culture while elevating festivals in the company’s portfolio, leading to nominations for prestigious awards like Pollstar Festival of the Year for Bourbon & Beyond and Inkcarceration, with Bourbon & Beyond winning the IEBA Festival of the Year. Welcome to Rockville also achieved the status of being the largest rock festival in North America, hosting over 200,000 fans in Daytona Beach, Florida. McCurry credits this success to the passion of their fans and the tireless effort of the team. Furthermore, Danny Wimmer Presents has retained its Great Place to Work status for three consecutive years, underscoring the company’s commitment to providing a thriving work environment.

Having joined Danny Wimmer Presents in 2019 as the Chief Marketing Officer, McCurry has recently taken on the role of General Manager, allowing her to have a more hands-on role in shaping the future of the company’s events. Despite 25 years in the industry, McCurry views each day as an opportunity to learn and grow, emphasizing that stepping into new challenges, broadening perspectives, and striving for excellence are what motivates her.

McCurry’s extensive career, including owning an event services company and serving as Vice President of Marketing at AEG Presents, gives weight to her advice for those aspiring to enter the industry. She encourages individuals to stay true to their passions and find a mentor who not only believes in them but also challenges them. Growth, she believes, happens outside one’s comfort zone, and she emphasizes the importance of embracing discomfort as part of the growth process. A mentor can push, question, and guide an individual, helping them seize opportunities they might overlook while supporting them on their journey.
