Fans at NRG Stadium found themselves immersed in the classic hit “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey, only to have the performance abruptly halted due to an electrical fire. The incident occurred during the band’s performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG Stadium. The audio was abruptly cut off in the middle of the signature song, leaving vocalist Arnel Pineda to carry on before the sound system and jumbotrons malfunctioned, leaving the audience to continue the song on their own.

Guitarist Neal Schon shared video footage of the interruption, showing Arnel Pineda singing the song’s iconic lines. However, due to the technical malfunction caused by the electrical fire, the band was unable to resume the performance, much to the disappointment of the fans in attendance. Schon took to Instagram to express gratitude towards the enthusiastic audience, despite the unfortunate circumstances. He acknowledged the overwhelming support from the 79-80 thousand fans who showed up to watch them perform and lamented the sudden end to the show.

In light of the unexpected turn of events, Journey’s members sought to make amends by offering to play another show to compensate for the cancellation. Sadly, the logistics did not pan out, leaving the band and fans with a sense of longing for a future reunion. The mood was bittersweet as the band expressed their love and respect for their dedicated fanbase in Houston who had shown up to witness their performance.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s official social media channels confirmed reports of the electrical incident that cut short Journey’s concert. Despite the disappointment, the organization reassured fans that efforts were underway to assess the situation and provide updates on possible rescheduling options and refunds in a timely manner. Journey and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo have yet to issue further comments regarding the incident.

Local news outlet KPRC reported that the band members departed the stage mid-song and did not return, while authorities inspected the area around the drum kit with fire extinguishers in hand. Despite the setback at the concert, the Rodeo assured attendees that the scheduled festivities would proceed as planned the following day. They also promised to communicate additional information to those who were present at the interrupted Journey concert, ensuring transparency and clarity moving forward.

The unexpected technical mishap left fans disappointed but also appreciative of the band’s efforts and the continued support from the Houston community. While the journey of the concert may have been cut short, there remains hope for a future reunion to make up for the unforeseen circumstances that led to the cancellation of Journey’s performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
