According to Bill Payne of Little Feat, this track was inspired by a unique real-life scenario involving Tackett and his wife Patricia in a hotel room in New Orleans where Fred’s request for a haircut was thwarted as Patricia felt she was too intoxicated to do so. This amusing anecdote morphed into the song’s quirky title, emphasizing the band’s signature humor, loved by their supporters.

The music video for “Too High To Cut My Hair” further aces the band’s knack for bringing a light-hearted touch to their artistry.
