SKUNK ANANSIE, the iconic British rock band, has an exciting announcement for their fans. After a nine-year wait, the band is set to release their seventh studio album, ‘The Painful Truth,’ on May 23rd via FLG Records. To mark this occasion, SKUNK ANANSIE will perform a headline show just outside Bristol on the album’s release day.

The latest single from the upcoming album, titled ‘Cheers,’ has just been released alongside a compelling lyric video created by bassist Cass’ godson, Miles Liverpool. ‘The Painful Truth’ promises to be a captivating and emotionally charged album, showcasing the band’s undeniable talent and creativity.

Vocalist Skin expressed her disregard for past successes, emphasizing the importance of constant evolution and growth in the music industry. The new album reflects the band’s journey of self-discovery and reinvention, where they faced challenges such as parenthood, illness, and changes in management that made them question their future as a band.

Faced with uncertainty, the band members – Skin, Ace, Cass, and Mark – decided to regroup post-Covid at a farmhouse in Devon to reconnect and channel their emotions into songwriting. Their collaborative process led to a refreshing and honest album, produced by David Sitek of TV On The Radio.

The lead single, ‘An Artist Is An Artist,’ has been met with praise and recognition from fans and media alike, securing spots on radio playlists and receiving positive feedback. The band’s new single, ‘Cheers,’ further demonstrates SKUNK ANANSIE’s ability to craft infectious melodies and thought-provoking lyrics that resonate with listeners.

‘The Painful Truth’ is a bold statement from the band, crafted during uncertain times and released under new management and a fresh record label. This record marks a significant milestone in SKUNK ANANSIE’s career, positioning them as a pioneering and influential force in British music.

Looking ahead, SKUNK ANANSIE will kick off their European and UK headline tour starting in Portugal and spanning across various countries before concluding in the UK with 15 shows. Additionally, the band has been announced as special guests at two outdoor Smashing Pumpkins shows in August.

Fans can secure tickets for SKUNK ANANSIE’s headline tour through their official website. With the release of ‘The Painful Truth,’ SKUNK ANANSIE is ready to reclaim their status as one of Britain’s most innovative and revered musical acts.
