Thirds, 10 A.M. Departure, And More Set to Perform at Benefit Concert in Cebu in March
In an effort to support Law Center Inc., a Cebu-based NGO that offers psychosocial services to women who are victims of abuse and gender-based violence, established indie musicians from Manila and Cebu are coming together for a benefit concert. The event, titled ‘So, What’s The Point?’ will showcase a range of musical genres such as emo, synth-pop, and shoegaze, featuring acts like Thirds, The Mind Is A Terrible Thing, 10 a.m. Departure, Kubra Commander, SUGARKISS, Awkward Dancer, and Monopolice.
Scheduled to take place on March 8 at From Here in Crossroads, Cebu City, the concert aims to raise funds for Law Center Inc. through a percentage of the event’s proceeds. Thirds, a local rock trio, was recognized by Billboard Philippines for their unique sound showcased in their track “Clingy,” while 10 a.m. Departure stands as an established indie rock n’ roll group known for their performances at club shows and major events.
Adding energy to the lineup is the emotionally charged quartet The Mind Is A Terrible Thing, along with Cebu’s veteran indie group Kubra Commander bringing a touch of Britpop-tinged psychedelia. Also hailing from Cebu, SUGARKISS is an emerging indie solo artist with music that exudes a distinct catwalk anthem quality. Similarly, the grunge and noise fusion of Awkward Dancer, whose Awkward Dancer Vs. The Harmless Devil album was hailed as one of the best in 2024, will be featured. Closing the night with their alternative indie rock sound inspired by Radiohead is Monopolice.
Tickets for the ‘So, What’s The Point?’ benefit concert are currently available online for Php 350, with a door charge set at Php 400. By attending this event, not only can music enthusiasts enjoy a diverse range of musical performances, but they can also contribute to a meaningful cause in supporting women affected by abuse and gender-based violence.
