Jelly Roll’s ‘Liar’ Equals Record Tying Number
Just 14 weeks after its release, Jelly Roll’s single “Liar” surged to the top of the Country Airplay chart, marking his seventh consecutive number one hit. This accomplishment puts him on par with Kane Brown, who also enjoyed a string of back-to-back chart-toppers.
What sets “Liar” apart is its rare achievement of securing the number one position on both the Country Airplay and Mainstream Rock Airplay charts. The only other song to achieve this dual feat was Jelly Roll’s 2023 hit, “Need a Favor.”
Not stopping at just singles, Jelly Roll’s 2024 album “Beautifully Broken” also soared to the number one spot on both the Top Country Albums and Billboard 200 charts. The songwriting chops of Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, and Taylor Phillips, together with the production skills of Zach Crowell, played a crucial role in shaping this chart-topping record.
Recognitions and awards have been pouring in for this rising star. In the spring of 2023, Jelly Roll scooped up three CMT Music Awards, one of which was the Breakthrough Male Video of the Year. His outstanding talent also caught the eye of the Country Music Association, which bestowed upon him the title of New Artist of the Year, alongside five nominations.
Diving into his earlier work, his album “Whitsitt Chapel” made its mark by reaching number three on the Billboard 200. Noteworthy on this album was his collaboration with Lainey Wilson on a special rendition of “Save Me,” showcasing Jelly Roll’s versatility and ability to collaborate across genres.
In the realm of friendships and collaborations, Jelly Roll’s bond with Kane Brown has been a highlight. Their joint effort on “Haunted,” a poignant song delving into the depths of depression, was featured on Brown’s latest album “The High Road.” Their connection only grew stronger, particularly during their gaming sessions online, where any past differences were ironed out, paving the way for a stronger musical partnership.
While “Liar” may have relinquished its top spot on the charts, current chart-toppers Koe Wetzel and Jessie Murph have taken the reins on the Country Airplay chart with their hit “High Road,” holding the number one position for an impressive five consecutive weeks.
