Plastic Rhino unveils new music video for ‘I Rise’
Plastic Rhino, an electro-rock duo based in Los Angeles, comprised of lead vocalist Atara Glazer and musician Jack Glazer, have recently unveiled a new video for their song “I Rise.”
The band shared the inspiration behind the single, explaining that it delves into the historical treatment of women, particularly during medieval times, when women displaying power or healing abilities were often deemed as witches and tragically killed in large numbers worldwide. Recalling a visit to Edinburgh, the duo shared how the city’s daytime charm and historical significance juxtaposed the eerie vibe of ghost stories, death, and the city’s dark past, which added a sinister yet strangely beautiful element to their experience.
Atara Glazer, the vocalist, emphasized the resilience of women throughout history, highlighting their ability to rise above oppression and reclaim their power in the face of societal challenges. She likened this resilience to that of zombies, symbolizing a tenacious spirit that refuses to be suppressed.
The single, “I Rise,” was meticulously crafted during a Producer Camp held at the prestigious Real World Studios in Box, UK, a program designed to enhance the songwriting and production skills of musicians, artists, and producers worldwide. Plastic Rhino had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned UK musicians and producers, such as Howie Gill on drums and electric drums, Adrian Utley from Portishead on synths, and Jantine Heij from Skrillex on backing vocals. The mixing and mastering duties were expertly handled by Steve Evans and Tim Oliver, adding a polished touch to the final production.
Fans can now enjoy the new single on various platforms, including Spotify. Plastic Rhino’s unique blend of electro-rock and meaningful lyricism continues to captivate audiences, showcasing their talent and artistry in delivering powerful messages through their music.
In a world where women have often faced systematic oppression and marginalization, Plastic Rhino’s “I Rise” serves as a poignant anthem of empowerment and resilience. Through their music, the duo sheds light on the strength and perseverance of women throughout history, encouraging listeners to embrace their inner strength and rise above adversity.
