Susan Hinkson, a jazz vocalist, is set to release her debut album “Just In Time” on May 9th, 2025, through windfall creations, LLC. The album features a talented lineup including Bruce Barth, Steve Wilson, Vicente Archer, and Adam Cruz, with co-production by Bruce Barth. The first single from the album, titled “Just In Time,” is already available on all streaming platforms, while the second single, “One For My Baby,” is scheduled for release on March 7th.

Hinkson’s album delves into the rich tapestry of the Great American Songbook, showcasing her unique interpretations of timeless classics. She opens with the hauntingly beautiful “One For My Baby” by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer, and closes with the whimsical “Rhode Island Is Famous For You,” a song made famous by one of her influences, Blossom Dearie. Produced by her mentor Bruce Barth, the album features a stellar New York quintet, adding depth and nuance to her enchanting vocals.

For Hinkson, this album is a personal journey into the music that has always resonated with her soul. “These songs always spoke to me as a little kid. They’re a part of my soul. I want people to enjoy these songs and hopefully find some moments that resonate. I put myself and my emotions into this,” she explains with passion. The album is a testament to her deep connection with the music and her desire to share that connection with her audience.

Transitioning from a successful career in real estate regulation and policy-making, Hinkson found her true calling in music. “Most of my time was spent making regulatory decisions about land use in the city,” she reflects. “But I started thinking about what to do when I decided I didn’t want to do real estate anymore.” This shift led her to embark on a new path, ultimately leading to the creation of “Just In Time.”

Each track on the album is infused with intimacy, grace, and joy, showcasing Hinkson’s effortless talent and emotional depth. From the swinging title track “Just In Time” to the poignant rendition of “My Funny Valentine,” Hinkson’s vocal prowess shines through in every note. The album’s diverse selection of songs, from upbeat tunes like “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love” to heart-wrenching ballads like “But Not for Me,” highlights Hinkson’s versatility as an artist.

One of the standout moments on the album is the romantic rendition of “Besame Mucho,” a classic bolero that showcases Hinkson’s emotive storytelling ability. With each track, she brings a fresh perspective to the timeless songs, breathing new life into familiar melodies. Hinkson’s collaboration with her bandmates elevates the music to new heights, creating a truly memorable listening experience.

As “Just In Time” prepares to make its debut on May 9th, 2025, jazz enthusiasts can look forward to a captivating musical journey led by the soulful voice of Susan Hinkson. With her passion for the music and her innate talent shining through on every track, this debut album promises to be a standout addition to the jazz vocal landscape.
