Sabrina Carpenter delivered a bold message to her ex, Barry Keoghan, in a new Valentine’s Day music video for a revamped version of her song, Please, Please, Please, featuring the legendary Dolly Parton. Last June, the original video featured Keoghan and Carpenter in romantic scenes while they were still a couple, set in a prison setting. However, following their breakup in December, Carpenter decided to create a new video for Please, Please, Please, this time with Parton as a featured artist.

The new music video, released on YouTube, has garnered over 3.2 million views since its debut. In the video, Carpenter and Parton can be seen embarking on a black-and-white, Thelma & Louise-inspired journey in a pickup truck. Towards the end, a man is shown bound and gagged in the trailer of the truck, with a bag over his head, wearing an outfit similar to the one Keoghan wore in the original video. Fans have appreciated this unexpected twist in the video.

Online reactions have been swift, with one YouTube commenter noting, “Barry was the only man to ever survive a Sabrina video so she had to come back and make things right.” Another fan expressed their admiration for Carpenter’s choice to include Dolly Parton, release the video on Valentine’s Day, and subtly throw shade at Keoghan, calling it a “slay” and expressing their love for it.

Originally, Please, Please, Please was the second single from Carpenter’s album Short n’ Sweet. Following its success, Carpenter released a deluxe edition of the album with five additional tracks, including the new version of the song featuring Dolly Parton. Meanwhile, Keoghan, in his first public comments since the breakup, expressed frustration with the negative attention he has received online. He shared his dismay at the lies, hateful messages, and disparaging remarks about his appearance, character, and even his family, calling it “inhumane” and stating that it has tarnished his hard work and values.

It is evident that Carpenter’s music video has generated buzz and stirred emotions among fans and the subjects involved. The collaboration with Dolly Parton, the unexpected twist in the video, and the subtle nod to her past relationship have all contributed to the video’s success and engagement. As Carpenter continues to evolve as an artist and storyteller, fans eagerly anticipate what she has in store next.
