Australian extreme metal band King Parrot has recently announced the upcoming release of their fourth studio album, “A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot,” scheduled to drop on June 6th, 2025, via Dead Serious Recordings. This album serves as the follow-up to their 2017 release, “Ugly Produce.” Alongside the announcement, the band unveiled the lead single, “Fuck You And The Horse You Rode In On,” which encapsulates feelings of empowerment and defiance. Lead vocalist Matt Young explained that the track is a direct message to individuals who have attempted to undermine or diminish others.

The accompanying music video for “Fuck You And The Horse You Rode In On” draws inspiration from the iconic film, “Trainspotting,” and was filmed at the Barwon Club in Geelong. Directed by the band’s longtime visual collaborator Dan Farmer, the video required dedication and effort from everyone involved to bring the band’s vision to life. Young praised Farmer’s expertise in translating their ideas into a visual masterpiece, expressing hope that the video will stand the test of time for viewers.

The title of the album, “A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot,” is a playful nod to progressive rock band King Crimson’s greatest hits compilation, which itself parodies an orchestral piece titled “A Young Person’s Guide To The Orchestra.” The band crafted the 10-track album at Danger Tone Studios in Reservoir, Melbourne, with in-house engineer Luke Walton co-producing alongside Young and guitarist Andrew Livingstone-Squires. The meticulous attention to detail during the recording process ensured that every element, from guitar tones to drum sounds, was perfected to create the band’s best studio effort to date.

While King Parrot has not yet announced an Australian tour in support of the album, they are currently on a European tour with Pantera and will embark on another European tour with Master. The band’s energetic live performances are not to be missed, drawing in crowds with their ferocious metal sound and intense stage presence.

“A Young Person’s Guide To King Parrot” promises to be a standout release that showcases the band’s evolution and maturity in their craft. Fans can anticipate a raw and powerful musical experience that solidifies King Parrot’s position in the realm of extreme metal. Stay tuned for the album’s official release on June 6th, 2025, and keep an eye out for further updates on the band’s future endeavors.
