Post Malone and Travis Barker to collaborate on Nirvana cover album
Post Malone and Travis Barker are joining forces to create a Nirvana cover album set to be released in celebration of Record Store Day. Post Malone, known for his wide-ranging musical style and recent success in the country music world with “F-1 Trillion,” is gearing up to drop a new album of covers in April called “Post Malone Tribute to Nirvana.” This 14-track vinyl exclusive will pay homage to the iconic rock band, and the proceeds from its sales will go towards supporting MusiCares’ Addiction Recovery/Mental Health division.
In 2020, Post Malone, who serves as the Record Store Day ambassador for 2025, performed these Nirvana covers live from his home in Salt Lake City via a YouTube livestream. The performance aimed to raise funds for the UN Foundation’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund and aid the World Health Organization during the pandemic.
Collaborating with Travis Barker on drums, along with Brian Lee and Nick Mac on bass and guitar, Post Malone brought new life to Nirvana’s classics and lesser-known tracks like “Come as You Are,” “Lounge Act,” “Heart-Shaped Box,” and “On A Plain.”
This announcement comes shortly after the remaining members of Nirvana—Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear—reunited for a surprise performance at FireAid, a charity concert benefiting wildlife relief efforts in Los Angeles.
Fans can look forward to the release of “Post Malone Tribute to Nirvana” on Record Store Day, slated for April 12th. With the combination of Post Malone’s unique musical flair and the enduring legacy of Nirvana, this cover album promises to be a must-have for music enthusiasts everywhere.
