Stevie Nicks, the legendary rock icon, has recently revealed that she is working on a new album that will be a departure from her usual style. In a recent speech at the Pollstar Awards, where she was inducted into the hall of fame, Nicks shared that the upcoming album will be a collection of autobiographical songs that delve into her past relationships with “fantastic men.” She described the songs as “real stories” where she is not holding back, unlike her previous work, which she referred to as “airy, fairy songs” that left listeners guessing.

This new album, which will be Nicks’ first collection of new songs in nearly fifteen years, is tentatively titled “The Ghost Record.” Nicks explained that the inspiration for the album came from her experience during the Los Angeles wildfires. She spent 92 days in a hotel, feeling disconnected from her usual life on the road, and found solace in writing music. This period of isolation prompted her to channel her emotions and experiences into her music, resulting in what she describes as a more raw and authentic collection of songs.

Despite her hiatus from releasing new material, Nicks has been actively involved in the music scene. She announced plans to embark on a tour later this year, starting in August. The tour will include both solo dates and performances with Billy Joel, with whom she previously shared the stage at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium in 2023. Nicks’ most recent album, “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault,” was released in 2014 and featured new recordings of songs she had written decades earlier. Her last album of original material, “In Your Dreams,” dates back to 2011.

In addition to her musical endeavors, Nicks has also been an outspoken advocate for social issues. Last year, she released a single titled “The Lighthouse,” which addressed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Her activism and willingness to address controversial topics through her music demonstrate her commitment to using her platform to drive meaningful conversations.

Looking ahead, Nicks remains uncertain about the future of Fleetwood Mac following the passing of bandmate Christine McVie in 2022. After touring with the band in 2018 and 2019, she has expressed doubts about the possibility of further performances without key members. However, Nicks’ solo career continues to thrive, and fans eagerly anticipate the release of her upcoming album, which promises to offer a glimpse into her personal journey and reflections on past relationships.
