Natalie Bergman reveals upcoming album titled “My Home Is Not in This World”
Los Angeles-based artist Natalie Bergman is set to release her second solo album, “My Home Is Not In This World,” on July 18 through Third Man Records. The album features the lead single, “Gunslinger,” accompanied by a mesmerizing cinematic video directed by Andreas Ekelund and starring Ian Svenonius. Bergman’s UK and European tour dates have also been announced, adding more excitement to the album release.
Described as a mix of Motown soul relocated to the California desert, “My Home Is Not In This World” was produced by Bergman’s brother, Elliot Bergman, and recorded analog-to-tape. The 12-track record explores themes of gospel soul, country-western heartache, and rock ‘n’ roll edge, all while showcasing Natalie’s distinct vocals.
The concept of the album title, as explained by Bergman, reflects her longing for a place beyond the digital realm. It serves as a departure from modern musical conventions, drawing on earthy sounds and love themes while expressing her search for belonging on Earth. The album’s lead single, “Gunslinger,” captures a haunting atmosphere with Natalie’s emotive vocals set against moody guitar melodies and evocative strings, transporting listeners to a bygone cinematic era.
Contrasting her earlier album, “Mercy,” which delved into grief and introspection following personal loss, “My Home Is Not In This World” emerges from a place of new life and rebirth. The birth of Bergman’s son, Arthur, in 2024 has infused her music with a delicate yet transcendent quality, embodying her journey through motherhood and renewal.
Having received acclaim for her debut solo album, Natalie Bergman continues to evolve artistically with “My Home Is Not In This World.” The record blends personal experiences with a mystical allure, inviting listeners into Bergman’s unique musical universe. As she prepares to unveil her latest work, Bergman’s music promises to resonate deeply and touch hearts with its raw emotion and ethereal grace.
