Nigerian celebrities have recently been under scrutiny for wearing fake designer items, raising questions about their lifestyle choices and financial status. This trend has gained momentum in 2025, with social media becoming a platform for the fashion police to call out celebrities like BBNaija’s Whitemoney, actress Lizzy Anjorin, and others for their questionable fashion choices.

Among those who have faced the heat for wearing fake designer outfits is actress Lizzy Anjorin, who clapped back at a fashion critic accusing her of donning a fake ‘Fasasi’ Versace outfit. In response, Lizzy defended her choice of clothing and criticized public callouts, suggesting that such matters should be handled privately.

Former BBNaija winner, Whitemoney, also found himself in the spotlight when a blog called out his ‘fake Louis Vuitton shoes.’ In a humorous response, Whitemoney showcased his collection of footwear, including the supposed fake designer shoes, explaining that he buys what fits his budget until he can afford the authentic items.

Actress Iyabo Ojo was also not spared from the fashion police’s scrutiny after being accused of carrying a fake Louis Vuitton bag. The critic highlighted discrepancies in the bag’s alignment and quality, suggesting it was not an authentic Louis Vuitton product.

Renowned musician 2Baba faced similar backlash regarding his choice of attire, with a fashion critic questioning the authenticity of his Fendi shirt. Meanwhile, actor Charles Okocha made headlines for allegedly wearing multiple fake designer items on different occasions, though he did not address these claims publicly.

Regina Daniels, wife of Senator Ned Nwoko, was called out twice for flaunting counterfeit designer items, including a fake Rolex watch and a Chanel bag. Similarly, businessman E-Money was accused of sporting a fake Panda Tourbillon wristwatch, while comedian AY Live faced criticism for carrying a fake Hermes bag, drawing ire from an Italian luxury shopping brand.

These incidents have sparked heated debates on social media about celebrities’ financial capabilities and the pressures they face to maintain a lavish lifestyle in the public eye. While some celebrities have shrugged off the criticisms with humor or indifference, others have chosen to address the allegations head-on. Regardless of their responses, it is evident that the scrutiny of celebrities’ fashion choices will continue to be a topic of discussion in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
