Ingrid Andress is once again making waves with the release of her latest single, ‘Catch 22’. Following the success of her highly praised 2022 album ‘Good Person’ and her debut album ‘Lady Like’, which have collectively garnered over 1.5 billion streams and earned her two Grammy Award nominations, Ingrid Andress continues to solidify her presence in the music industry. Additionally, her hit single ‘More Hearts Than Mine’ has achieved double-Platinum status, further establishing her as a formidable talent in the music world. As a sought-after songwriter, Ingrid has contributed to hits like Charli xcx’s ‘Boys’ and Bebe Rexha’s ‘Girl In The Mirror’.
In ‘Catch 22’, Ingrid Andress showcases her raw talent with a stripped-back acoustic sound that allows her emotive vocals to shine. The song delves into the complexities of a failing relationship, where one partner struggles to mature and move beyond the carefree mindset of their youth, fixated on reliving their twenty-two-year-old self. Ingrid captures the essence of this predicament with poignant lyrics that paint a vivid picture of emotional growth and introspection.
Describing the inspiration behind ‘Catch 22’, Ingrid explains, “’Catch 22’ is a song about trying to grow in a relationship that you’ve already outgrown. Love is not for the faint of heart, especially when it’s up to you to leave it behind. The song takes place in a relationship because it’s commonly the place we see it happen the most. At one point or another, we’ve all found ourselves in relationships where we love and care for someone that no longer fits. We stay and hope they will change because who doesn’t want someone to love and be loved by? And it’s never really ‘that bad.’ Until one day you wake up and want a beautiful life that’s much more than not ‘that bad’ and the only person who can change that is you.”
After a transformative year that included a pivotal National Anthem performance, followed by a personal journey of self-discovery and resilience, Ingrid Andress is back with a renewed sense of purpose. Her decision to confront her challenges head-on propelled her to return to her musical roots, symbolized by another rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ at a recent Colorado Avalanche game, where she received accolades for her courage and perseverance.
As Ingrid continues to work on a larger project, ‘Catch 22’ and ‘Footprints’ serve as the initial offerings that reflect her growth and evolution as an artist. Drawing inspiration from her recent trials and triumphs, Ingrid infuses her songwriting with newfound wisdom and confidence, underscoring the power of resilience and self-discovery in navigating life’s complexities.
