anufacturers by aiming for “synthetic humans” which, if they pull it off, will be almost indistinguishable from real people. Dhanush Radhakrishna, Clone co-founder, said on X that the launch of Protoclone is “ground zero for the age of androids”.

Their claim to have created the “world’s first” musculoskeletal robot is debatable, with other models – such as Tokyo JSK Lab’s 2017 Kengoro – recognized under that label. However, Kengoro was intended as a research project, whereas Clone has its sights set on commercial, domestic androids placed in homes around the world.

Key to the human-like appearance is building the systems beneath the skin, like the muscles seen in the prototype. Clone Robotics has created a robotic hand that they claim is superior to Tesla’s. The hand boasts the same number of degrees of freedom and speed but is lighter, stronger, cheaper, and provides comfortable massages and hugs by being soft and plush.

Clone Robotics threw down a challenge to Elon Musk by showcasing their advanced robo-tech. In response to Musk’s statement about Tesla’s robot hand being sophisticated, Clone Robotics highlighted the advantages of their technology. They assured the public that more revelations will come in 2025, indicating further advancements in their synthetic human project.

It is interesting to note that Clone Robotics’ vision for Protoclone goes beyond mere robotics. They envision a future where human-like synthetic beings can integrate into our daily lives seamlessly. With the ability to mimic human movement and anatomy, Protoclone has the potential to revolutionize the concept of robotics and artificial intelligence.

As technology continues to advance rapidly, the development of synthetic humans like Protoclone raises ethical and philosophical questions. The boundary between man and machine blurs as these lifelike robots enter the mainstream. Clone Robotics’ ambitious project marks a significant milestone in the field of robotics, paving the way for a future where artificial beings coexist with humans.
