Green Day is set to release an expanded deluxe edition of their 2024 album ‘Saviors’, featuring seven new tracks. The deluxe edition, titled ‘Saviors (édition de luxe)’, is scheduled for release on May 23 and includes the previously unreleased track ‘Smash It Like Belushi’, which is already available for streaming.

In addition to ‘Smash It Like Belushi’, the deluxe edition will include four new songs, namely ‘F*** Off’, ‘Ballyhoo’, ‘Underdog’, and ‘Stay Young’. Fans can also expect acoustic versions of ‘Suzie Chapstick’ and ‘Father to a Son’ on the album. The original ‘Saviors’ album garnered Green Day – consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt – a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. The band is currently on their ‘Saviors World Tour’, with the tour set to conclude in September 2025.

Frontman Billie Joe recently reflected on an incident from 1994 involving Perry Farrell, the frontman of Jane’s Addiction. In the book ‘Lollapalooza: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock’s Wildest Festival’, Billie Joe and John Rubeli, the event’s then-stage manager, discussed how Farrell initially opposed Green Day’s participation in the Lollapalooza festival, as he viewed them as a manufactured boy band.

Despite Farrell’s initial reluctance, Green Day eventually joined the tour after some convincing. Perry Farrell conceded to including Green Day in half of the tour lineup, alongside the Boredoms. During their performance, Green Day made a statement by playing ‘Chump’ in response to Farrell’s criticisms.

The incident left the band feeling disappointed as they had admired Farrell, but it also motivated them to prove themselves at Lollapalooza. Over the years, Billie Joe and Farrell were able to reconcile, with a reported handshake taking place at Woodstock ’94.

Lollapalooza, originally established by Perry Farrell as a touring alternative rock festival in 1991, has since evolved into an annual music festival held in Chicago’s Grant Park. The festival has expanded internationally with events taking place in various cities around the world.

The upcoming deluxe edition of ‘Saviors’ will feature a total of 22 tracks, with new additions like ‘F*** Off’, ‘Ballyhoo’, and ‘Underdog’, as well as acoustic versions of existing songs ‘Suzie Chapstick’ and ‘Father to a Son’. Fans can look forward to the release of ‘Saviors (édition de luxe)’ on May 23 and enjoy these new tracks from Green Day.
