Los Angeles witnessed a delightful collaboration between Punjabi pop sensation Diljit Dosanjh and Hollywood icon Will Smith. Diljit Dosanjh, known for his varied collaborations, most recently teamed up with British pop star Ed Sheeran for an epic performance. Ed Sheeran even sang a few lines in Hindi during Diljit’s Dil-Luminati concert in Birmingham last year. Now, Diljit joined forces with Will Smith for an Instagram reel that took the internet by storm.

In the Instagram reel posted by the duo, Will Smith is seen looking at a picture of Diljit on his smartphone, only to reveal moments later that the Punjabi superstar is actually standing right beside him. The two proceed to showcase their bhangra skills, syncing their moves effortlessly. The caption accompanying the video read, “PANJABI aa gaye oye with one & only living legend @willsmith. It’s inspiring to watch king Will Smith doing Bhangra & enjoying Panjabi dhol beat.”

Interestingly, this collaboration coincided with the release of Will Smith’s latest music album, Based on a True Story. The album includes a track titled “Int. Barbershop — Day”, where Will addresses the controversial incident at the 94th Academy Awards where he slapped comedian Chris Rock. The altercation stemmed from a joke Rock made about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, during the ceremony. Will later accepted the Oscar for best actor for his role in “King Richard,” where he reiterated his stance on protecting his wife’s honor.

In his song, Will Smith touches upon the Oscars controversy, with lyrics referencing the incident, such as “Him and Jada both crazy girl, what you talkin’ bout?/ You better keep his wife’s name out of your mouth.” The track also alludes to the aftermath of the incident, mentioning rumors of him having to return the Oscar, which did not happen. The Academy, however, banned him from attending its events for a decade and Will Smith took full responsibility for his actions, expressing deep remorse for the whole saga.

Moreover, “Based on a True Story” marks Will Smith’s return to the music scene after a hiatus of 20 years, with his last album being 2005’s “Lost and Found.” On the other hand, Diljit Dosanjh recently wrapped up filming in the UK for his upcoming Punjabi film “Sardaar Ji 3,” set for a global release on June 27. The film is the third installment in the Punjabi horror-comedy franchise, following the success of the previous two movies released in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

The collaboration between Diljit Dosanjh and Will Smith on the Instagram reel serves as a testament to the universal appeal of music and dance, transcending cultural and geographical boundaries. Both artists bring their unique style and flair to the table, creating a moment that resonated with fans worldwide. It’s exciting to witness this fusion of talents from different corners of the entertainment industry, highlighting the power of creativity and collaboration in fostering connections between artists and audiences globally.
