YouTube to introduce AI-powered creative tools for making Shorts videos

YouTube is gearing up to unveil a series of new features to streamline Shorts creation on its platform. The upcoming features, set to launch this spring, aim to enhance the editing process for content creators. Based on user feedback, YouTube is introducing a revamped video editor that will allow users to make precise edits to their clips at specific times.

This new video editor will offer users the ability to zoom in on clips, adjust timings, rearrange clips, add timed text, and sync clips with music. Additionally, the editor will enable users to delete unwanted clips and create a rough cut of their Shorts. Furthermore, Templates, a feature introduced last year, will receive an update that allows users to import photos from their phone’s gallery for use in Shorts.

In an effort to enhance creativity, YouTube is rolling out AI-powered sticker updates for Shorts. Users will now be able to generate stickers using a text description, and seamlessly incorporate them into their videos. The platform’s experimental AI software requires only a text description from users to create custom stickers, providing a hassle-free experience for creators.

During the Made by YouTube event, the platform unveiled the “Inspirational” tab, which will house various AI tools for content creation. One such tool allows users to create short videos using text descriptions and experimental AI to generate six-second clips for Shorts. This Inspirational tab will undoubtedly serve as a hub for upcoming AI features, including the highly anticipated sticker generator set to launch in the spring.

In addition to these editing and AI-driven enhancements, YouTube is testing a new AI-based remix feature called “Restyle.” This innovative tool, powered by Dream Track, enables users to select official, licensed songs and transform them into unique creations. By leveraging Restyle, users can generate customized 30-second clips to use as background music for their Shorts.
