Lynyrd Skynyrd to release live album from Gary Rossington’s farewell concert
Legendary southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd has announced the release of a live album capturing their performance at the late founding guitarist Gary Rossington’s final live show. Recorded at the iconic Ryman Theater in Nashville during their Big Wheels Keep On Turnin’ Tour in November 2022, this special album titled Celebrating 50 Years – Live At The Ryman holds significant sentimental value as it immortalizes one of Rossington’s last appearances with the band before his passing at the age of 71.
During the Ryman performance, Rossington took the stage with the band starting from the sixth song, That Smell, all the way through the encore, Freebird. The night was further embellished by appearances from a stellar lineup of guest artists including rapper and singer Jelly Roll, who featured in the video for the album’s first single, Tuesday’s Gone. Additional guests included Marcus King, John Osborne (of The Brothers Osborne), Brent Smith (from Shinedown), and Donnie Van Zant (known for his work with Van Zant and .38 Special).
Fans can look forward to the release of Celebrating 50 Years – Live At The Ryman on June 27, available in various formats including 2CD/DVD, Blu-Ray, and double LP. The DVD and Blu-ray editions will also include a special documentary titled Celebrating 50 Years of Lynyrd Skynyrd, offering an intimate glimpse into the band’s enduring legacy.
