The Dirty Turkeys are gearing up to release their debut full-length album and embark on a summer tour along the West Coast. As a 2025 Best of Denver award-winning band, this release is highly anticipated, and fans are eager to get a taste of the group’s unique sound.

Established in the college scene of Boulder, The Dirty Turkeys are a talented group of musicians who recently received recognition for Best Acid-Rock Band in Denver. Their upcoming album, Cowboy Caravan, is set to release on April 11, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey.

Drummer Ty Tullar shared insights into the band’s formation, highlighting how they all met at the University of Colorado Boulder. With shared musical interests and a passion for creating innovative music, the band quickly gained momentum by performing at various venues and gatherings, showcasing their experimental sound known as “Acid Cow Punk.”

Despite the academic commitments of some members, such as Gonzo, who graduated last year, the band is transitioning from house parties and basement jams to a more professional realm. Their upcoming Fox Theater performance on May 7 will coincide with their graduation day, signaling the beginning of an extensive tour comprising fifty shows through mid-August, with plans for additional tours extending into January.

Embracing a diverse range of influences from surf rock to psych-rock, The Dirty Turkeys draw inspiration from artists like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. The band’s dynamic nature allows them to explore various genres and experiment with new sounds, much like their eclectic influences.

Russ, the band’s guitarist, is the primary songwriter, drawing from the styles of Mac DeMarco and Lou Reed. Gonzo, on the other hand, finds inspiration from iconic figures like Jim Morrison, contributing his unique flair to the group’s compositions. Each member brings a different musical expertise, whether it’s Russ’s sitar playing, Sam’s accordion skills, or Ty’s recent exploration of tabla drums, showcasing the band’s versatility and willingness to push boundaries.

Looking ahead, The Dirty Turkeys are excited about their upcoming album release and tour, with aspirations to establish a more permanent base in locations like San Diego or Denver. With a commitment to creating innovative, genre-defying music, the band is poised to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact on the music scene. Their journey from college performers to award-winning artists is a testament to their dedication, talent, and passion for pushing creative boundaries in the world of rock music.
