Grammy-nominated band from Massachusetts loses two founding members
Godsmack, a Grammy-nominated rock band with roots in Massachusetts, is facing significant changes to its lineup as two of its longstanding members, guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin, have decided to step down after nearly thirty years with the group. Shannon Larkin, in a now-deleted video addressing rumors surrounding the lineup change, affirmed that the decision to leave the band was mutual and stemmed from a disparity in touring preferences. Larkin explained, “Tony turned 60. I’m 58. Look, it’s not a physical thing. We wanna be home with everything that we love.”
Godsmack, established in the Boston area in 1995, has an extensive discography comprising eight albums, with popular tracks such as “Whatever,” “Voodoo,” “Bad Religion,” “Awake,” “Cryin’ Like a Bitch,” “1000hp,” “When Legends Rise,” and the Grammy-nominated “I Stand Alone.” Tony Rombola joined Godsmack in 1996, around the time of their major label debut, while Shannon Larkin became a fixture in the band in 2002.
