Bachman-Turner Overdrive Release First New Song in 25 Years, “60 Years Ago”
Bachman-Turner Overdrive returned to the music scene with a bang after more than a quarter-century absence. Their latest creation, “60 Years Ago,” was introduced to the world on Friday, marking a significant milestone for the iconic Canadian rock band. The track boasts a striking guitar solo by none other than Neil Young, a fellow Canadian rock legend. This momentous release aligns with their upcoming “Back In Overdrive Tour,” which is set to kick off with shows in Canada this April, followed by a US tour later in July and August.
Bachman-Turner Overdrive faced a challenging period in 2023 with the loss of classic members Robbie Bachman and Tim Bachman. However, the band’s founder, Randy Bachman, rebounded by enlisting his son Tal Bachman, a talented singer and songwriter, and Tal’s wife, Koko Bachman on drums. Additionally, Randy brought back classic BTO member Fred Turner to collaborate on the new single. “60 Years Ago” serves as a heartfelt tribute to the band’s Winnipeg origins and pays homage to the vibrant music scene of the 1960s.
The revitalized BTO lineup for the upcoming tour will include Randy, Tal, Koko, Lance Lapointe, and Brent Knudsen. Randy expressed his enthusiasm about the band’s return, stating, “We sound better than ever. We’re playing all the hits, as well as diving deep into the album cuts, and the response from fans has been incredible. The BTO sound is BACK!!” The energy surrounding the band’s return is palpable, drawing in fans old and new with the promise of a spectacular musical experience.
The band’s latest track encapsulates the essence of Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s musical journey, reflecting on their roots and the musical landscape that shaped their sound.
