Dagger Threat releases powerful new single “Becoming”
The latest offering from Hamburg-based Dagger Threat comes in the form of their track “Becoming”, set for release on March 28. This release signals the beginning of the band’s third chapter, ahead of their EU/UK tour alongside Boundaries and Varials. Accompanying the single is a music video, enhancing the overall experience for fans. Building on their previous work, “Becoming” follows 2023’s “Unchained EP” and continues Dagger Threat’s signature blend of hardcore and early 2000s nu metal. The track is characterized by thick mosh riffs, industrial tones, and what the band refers to as “Y2K DNA.”
Drawing parallels to their earlier projects, “Becoming” maintains the same essence found in their previous releases such as “Gestaltzerfall” (2019) and “Weltschmerz” (2022). The latter notably reflects the isolating and frustrating aspects of the pandemic era. Sebastian Schilling of Rock Hard Magazine comments on Dagger Threat’s ability to merge raw mosh riffs with ominous industrial synths, creating a dynamic sound reminiscent of Slipknot. Despite the heavy nature of their music, Dagger Threat manages to maintain an organic and powerful edge to their sound.
Formed in 2016, Dagger Threat has an extensive live performance history, having played nearly 200 shows across 12 countries. In the past, the band has shared the stage with acts like Comeback Kid, Nasty, and Distant. Their upcoming tour alongside Boundaries and Varials will serve as the live debut for “Becoming”, setting the stage for their 10th-anniversary celebrations and full album launch.
This latest single release by Dagger Threat represents a continuation of their signature sound and signifies the band’s evolution and growth in the heavy music scene. With a dedicated fanbase and a history of powerful live performances, Dagger Threat is set to take their music to new heights with the release of “Becoming”. Be sure to stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting chapter in the band’s musical journey.
