Deen Castronovo, the drummer for Journey, highlighted Triumph’s significant influence on his career, mentioning that without Gil, his singing style behind a drum kit would not exist.
Sebastian Bach, a self-proclaimed fan of Triumph, expressed his admiration for the band, considering them one of his all-time favorites. He is heard belting out their classic “Rock & Roll Machine” on the upcoming album. Dee Snider, who lends his vocal talent on the album with a rendition of “Lay It On the Line,” shared his awe upon hearing the song for the first time, emphasizing that there is only one Rik and one Triumph, making his contribution to the project a true honor.
Formed in 1975 in Mississauga, Ontario, Triumph was known for their pioneering use of technology in live performances. They integrated sophisticated lighting, sound systems, pyrotechnics, and computer-controlled effects into their shows, setting them apart as one of the first arena rock bands to incorporate these elements. Over the years, Triumph played at various iconic venues like the US Festival, the World Series of Rock, the American Rock Festival, and Texxas Jam, Day on the Green, leaving a lasting impact on the rock music scene.
The Magic Power: All-Star Tribute to Triumph album features a comprehensive track listing with artists delivering unique interpretations of classic Triumph tunes. From Sebastian Bach’s rendition of “24 Hours a Day” to Lawrence Gowan’s delicate touch on “Somebody’s Out There” and Phil X’s tribute with “Allied Forces,” the album showcases a diverse mix of talent paying homage to a legendary band.
