Perth Teenage Bassist Lizzie Bliss Joins Wolfmother on Stage at Red Hot Summer Tour
Perth is no stranger to iconic music moments, and one such event took place at Sandalford Wines’ Red Hot Summer Tour when 18-year-old bass guitarist Lizzie Bliss was given the opportunity of a lifetime. Known for their hit “Joker and the Thief,” Australian rock band Wolfmother invited Lizzie to join them on stage, much to the delight of the crowd.
Armed with a homemade sign asking to play bass for “Joker and the Thief,” Lizzie arrived at the festival with her family, eager to share the stage with her musical heroes. After catching the band’s attention with her sign, vocalist Andrew Stockton extended the invitation for her to come up and play bass.
Despite the scorching heat in Swan Valley, Lizzie patiently held up her sign, eagerly anticipating her chance to shine. When Stockton finally invited her on stage, she grabbed a bass guitar and quickly adjusted to her new role. With the band members providing her with physical cues, Lizzie felt surprisingly calm and in sync with the music.
As she strummed through the opening chords of “Joker and the Thief,” Lizzie wowed the audience and found herself performing alongside Stockton to the cheers of the 16,000-strong crowd. Rejoining her family in the pit after the performance, she was met with pride and excitement from her father, who couldn’t believe what she had just accomplished.
The following day, Lizzie had the opportunity to meet up with Wolfmother again, this time for breakfast. Jamming with the band around the table, she showcased her talent by playing classic rock songs with them. Raised in a musical family, Lizzie’s parents have always influenced her musical taste, introducing her to bands like Wolfmother at a young age.
Despite her rockstar performance with Wolfmother, Lizzie is currently enrolled in WAAPA’s music program to pursue a technical music education. Her unconventional path to WAAPA without graduating high school showcases her determination and passion for music. Inspired by musical legends like Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer, Lizzie’s expanding social media presence hints at a promising future in the music industry.
With a love for the bass guitar and a desire to master every instrument, Lizzie Bliss is a talented young musician to watch. Her unforgettable performance with Wolfmother at the Red Hot Summer Tour is just the beginning of what promises to be a bright musical career for this aspiring artist.
