Observations from Clemson’s 10th Spring Practice
Clemson University’s football team held its Spring Practice Day 10 behind the Allen Reeves Football Complex, with the media granted access to the first six and a half periods of practice. During this time, several noteworthy observations were made by The Clemson Insider.
One standout during the practice was Misun “Tink” Kelley, who began by working with the wide receivers and later switched to the secondary, showcasing his versatility and contribution to both units. In terms of special teams, both Quinn Castner and Robert Gunn successfully kicked 43-yard field goals, highlighting their strong performance in special teams drills. Meanwhile, Nolan Hauser did not attempt a field goal.
One intriguing addition to the practice fields this year is Clemson’s new video boards, strategically positioned to face the defense and offense sides. These boards display motivational messages during breaks and drills, enhancing the practice environment. Moreover, video boards also present footage of all 22 shots of practice.
During special teams drills, Adam Randall, Tyler Brown, and Gideon Davidson stood out as they returned kickoffs. Of the three, Davidson exhibited exceptional skills, noticeably setting himself apart when handling the ball. Randall replicated a remarkable kick return reminiscent of his performance in the ACC Championship Game, while Brown displayed smooth and controlled movements during his return.
Additionally, the practice saw the execution of the “Indy Team” drill, with the first-team offense featuring players like QB Cade Klubnik, RB Adam Randall, and various wide receivers and tight ends. Similarly, the second-team offense, led by QB Christopher Vizzina, showcased their skills during the drill, emphasizing team depth and talent across different positions.
Several players were observed with injuries during the practice, such as LT Tristan Leigh and reserve running back Jarvis Green. Leigh was seen riding a scooter to support his injured left foot, while Green wore a boot on his right foot, underscoring the physical demands and challenges faced by players throughout the season.
Overall, Clemson’s Spring Practice Day 10 offered a glimpse into the team’s preparation and progress as they gear up for the upcoming season. The dedication and hard work demonstrated by the players and coaching staff during practice bode well for the team’s future success on the football field.
