Jack Black is set to star in the upcoming live-action Minecraft movie and recently unveiled a song from the film’s soundtrack featuring Dave Grohl. Titled “I Feel Alive,” the song is a rock track inspired by the 80s, with Black handling the vocals and Grohl on the drums. The song was co-written by Black alongside Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, with contributions from Danielle Brooks on vocals and Troy Van Leeuwen, a longtime member of Queens of the Stone Age, on guitar.

This collaboration between the actor-comedian and the lead singer of Foo Fighters is not their first. Grohl previously played drums on some tracks from Tenacious D’s self-titled debut album in 2001 and on their 2018 album “Post-Apocalyptico.” The two have also shared the stage on several occasions, most recently during Grohl’s 2022 “Hanukkah Sessions,” where they covered Rush’s “The Spirit of Radio.”

Although known for their musical endeavors, both Black and Grohl have taken a step back from the spotlight this year. Tenacious D went on hiatus following controversial comments made by band member Kyle Gass regarding the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Foo Fighters also reportedly canceled their 2025 tour plans after Grohl disclosed the birth of a child outside his marriage in September.

The Minecraft Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 4, featuring an original score by DEVO’s Mark Mothersbaugh. Alongside Black and Brooks, the film includes a star-studded cast with names like Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, and Jennifer Coolidge.

“I Feel Alive” offers a glimpse into the collaboration between Jack Black and Dave Grohl, combining their talents in a nostalgic rock anthem that sets the tone for the Minecraft Movie’s soundtrack. With its release, fans can anticipate a musical experience that brings together the creative forces of these two seasoned performers.

As the premiere date approaches, excitement is building around the release of the Minecraft Movie and its accompanying soundtrack. Mark Mothersbaugh’s involvement in creating the film’s score adds another layer of musical expertise to the project, promising an immersive and engaging cinematic experience for audiences of all ages.

In the meantime, fans can enjoy the electrifying energy of “I Feel Alive” and look forward to the full soundtrack’s release alongside the premiere of the highly anticipated live-action Minecraft movie. With Jack Black leading the charge and Dave Grohl providing the rhythm, this musical collaboration is sure to leave a lasting impression on audiences when the film hits theaters in just a few weeks.
