Jack Black is set to star in the live-action Minecraft movie, and recently, he shared a rock song from the film’s soundtrack titled “I Feel Alive,” featuring Dave Grohl on drums. The upbeat ’80s-inspired tune showcases Black’s vocal talent alongside the drumming skills of Grohl. The song was a collaborative effort with producers Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, with additional vocals provided by Danielle Brooks and guitar accompaniment by Troy Van Leeuwen, a prominent member of Queens of the Stone Age.

This collaboration between Black and Grohl is not their first musical endeavor together. Grohl has previously played drums on some tracks from Tenacious D’s debut album in 2001, as well as on their 2018 album, Post-Apocalyptico. The two musicians have shared the stage several times, most recently teaming up for a cover of “The Spirit of Radio” by Rush during Grohl’s Hanukkah Sessions in 2022.

Both Black and Grohl have been relatively quiet on the music scene this year. Tenacious D has been on a hiatus since band member Kyle Gass made controversial remarks about a political figure, while Foo Fighters reportedly called off tour plans for 2025 after Grohl announced the birth of a child outside of his marriage in September.

Scheduled to hit theaters on April 4, the Minecraft Movie will feature an original score by Mark Mothersbaugh from DEVO. Alongside Black and Brooks, the movie boasts an ensemble cast that includes Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, and more.

Fans can get a taste of the movie’s soundtrack with “I Feel Alive,” highlighting the musical chemistry between Jack Black and Dave Grohl. This lively rock anthem promises to add an exciting dimension to the upcoming Minecraft movie, blending Black’s vocal prowess with Grohl’s drumming expertise in a unique and nostalgic ’80s-inspired sound.

As anticipation builds for the film’s release, audiences can look forward to experiencing the creative collaboration between these talented musicians and the vibrant energy they bring to the Minecraft Movie soundtrack. With a mix of rock influences and standout performances, “I Feel Alive” sets the stage for an engaging and memorable cinematic experience when the movie hits theaters in April.
