Jethro Tull, a band that has been a household name since the 1960s, has finally achieved a significant milestone in their illustrious career. After over 50 years in the music industry, their latest album, Curious Ruminant, has soared to the No. 1 position on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. This long-overdue accomplishment is a cause for celebration for the band, who in the past have come close but never quite reached the top spot, with 17 of their previous albums landing in the top 10, but peaking at only No. 2 on the charts.

In addition to topping the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, Curious Ruminant has also secured impressive rankings in three other U.K. charts, including No. 3 on the Official Albums Sales chart, No. 8 on the Official Album Downloads roster, and No. 9 on the Official Vinyl Albums list. Serving as their 24th studio album, Curious Ruminant follows their 2022 and 2023 album releases. Despite the evolving lineup and sound of the band over the years, this album is a deliberate return to their signature ’70s sound, highlighted by a 17-minute opus titled “Drink From The Same Well.”

Featuring the talents of current band members Ian Anderson, David Goodier, John O’Hara, Scott Hammond, and new guitarist Jack Clark, with guest appearances by former keyboardist Andrew Giddings and drummer James Duncan, Curious Ruminant is a nostalgic journey for longtime fans of Jethro Tull. Anderson, reflecting on the album, expressed, “It’s more of a personal set of lyrics but very much a band album. Quite a lot of this album was made with the guys all in the room at the same time playing their instruments in real-time.” Highlighting his perspective on success, Anderson humbly remarked, “It’s not about having gold albums or platinum albums to hang on the wall, that’s really not the name of the game for me at all.”

Curious Ruminant is now available for digital streaming and in various physical formats, such as a limited deluxe ultra clear 180g 2LP + 2CD + Blu-ray artbook and a limited deluxe 2CD+Blu-ray artbook edition. Fans can also purchase special edition CD digipaks or gatefold 180g LP + LP-booklets to add to their collection. If you haven’t already, be sure to give the new album a listen to experience the classic sound of Jethro Tull reimagined for a new era.
