Fontaines D.C., the renowned Irish punk-rock band widely recognized for hits like ‘Starburster’ and ‘Boys in the Better Land,’ recently made the tough decision to cancel several shows in South America due to a sudden medical emergency concerning their frontman, Grian Chatten. The 29-year-old lead singer shared a heartfelt message through the band’s Instagram Story, expressing his deep regret over the unforeseen cancellation of their upcoming performances in Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia. Chatten disclosed that a herniated disc necessitated urgent medical attention, preventing him from taking the stage in Mexico City as planned and subsequently leading to the cancellation of their South American tour dates.

This unforeseen turn of events has undoubtedly left Fontaines D.C. and their devoted fanbase disheartened, as they were eagerly anticipating the opportunity to showcase their electrifying music in these vibrant and culturally rich countries. Chatten conveyed his disappointment, revealing, “I have been really excited to play these beautiful countries for years, and it really hurts to be here in Mexico City and not be able to go onstage, but I have been advised today that I require urgent medical attention.” Despite the disappointment, Chatten expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support of their fans and apologized sincerely for being unable to deliver the performance they had been eagerly awaiting.

Fontaines D.C. had already completed successful tours in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand before embarking on their South American journey. The cancellation of their shows in Mexico City and at prominent music festivals like Lollapalooza in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil undoubtedly came as a blow to both the band and their dedicated followers. The band’s highly acclaimed fourth studio album, ‘Romance,’ which garnered a Grammy nomination, serves as a testament to their musical prowess and resonates deeply with audiences worldwide.
