Coheed And Cambria Releases New Album ‘The Father of Make Believe’ | ROCK 105.3
Coheed and Cambria have a distinct reputation for seamlessly integrating intricate storytelling with grandiose music, a tradition that persists in their latest album, The Father of Make Believe.
This latest album marks the band’s eleventh studio release and acts as the third chapter in the Vaxis narrative, a crucial component of their expansive sci-fi realm known as The Armory Wars. Preceding this album were The Unheavenly Creatures in 2018 and A Window of the Waking Mind in 2022.
Claudio Sanchez, the creative force behind the band, reflected on The Father of Make Believe, describing it as a moment of self-reflection and internal conflict. He mused, “This record is a midlife crisis. I realized, 20-some-odd years in, I was struggling with the brand I’ve given myself: Am I satisfied being the science fiction rock ’n’ roll guy when so much of my material comes from personal experiences?”
The album comprises 14 tracks, each contributing to the overarching narrative, with one track, “Someone Who Can,” standing out. Sanchez elaborated on the song’s theme, emphasizing the perpetual quest for understanding amidst a world in constant flux. He notes the solace found in accepting that some mysteries may never be fully unraveled.
Excitement surrounds Coheed and Cambria’s upcoming co-headlining tour with Taking Back Sunday, set to commence on August 16 in St. Louis. The tour will span various cities nationwide, including Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Nashville, Atlanta, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, before concluding in Seattle on September 21.
