The duo behind Platronic, consisting of Finnish composer/producer Some-E and German singer-songwriter/producer Kay, formally came together in 2020. What started as casual conversations about music on Instagram in 2019 organically transformed into a musical partnership on EBM Day, February 24, 2020. Despite not planning to become a duo, they quickly realized they shared a similar vision for music and were brimming with creative ideas.
Musically, Platronic draws influence from iconic acts such as ABBA, Depeche Mode, and VNV Nation, which is reflected in their distinct sound. Since their inception, Platronic has released five singles and one EP, garnering critical acclaim along the way. In December 2023, the duo received a nomination for “Best Electro Act” at Radio Wigwam in London for the second time. Additionally, their track “Memories” was featured in the “Top 100 Best Synthpop Songs of 2023” by blogger Synthpopfanatic based in Washington DC and secured a spot in the Top 10 of the German Electronic Music Webcharts for eight weeks.
