Little Feat is gearing up to delight fans with a brand new album, “Strike Up the Band,” set to be released on May 9. This highly anticipated album will coincide with the kick-off of their tour, adding to the excitement for fans of the veteran band.

One of the standout tracks from the upcoming album is “Too High to Cut My Hair,” which is already available for fans to enjoy. This song, based on a humorous true story involving guitarist Fred Tackett and his wife Patricia in a hotel room in New Orleans, showcases Tackett’s songwriting talent. Bandleader Bill Payne expressed his satisfaction with the track, noting Tackett’s brilliance and humor that is a trademark of Little Feat’s music. The song also features the distinctive voice of Sam Clayton, adding to its appeal and making it a classic Little Feat creation.

“Strike Up the Band” follows hot on the heels of Little Feat’s previous album, “Sam’s Place,” released just a year ago, marking the band’s first recording since 2012. Payne compares the new album to the iconic “Let It Roll” from 1988, emphasizing the band’s intention to reintroduce themselves with a fresh collection of songs. He believes that fans will appreciate the album for what it is – a true representation of Little Feat’s unique style, showcasing their musical prowess and honoring their legacy.

Little Feat fans will have the opportunity to experience the band live as they embark on a much-awaited summer tour starting on May 9 in Rutland, Vermont. The tour will run until the end of June before a brief hiatus. The band will then return to the stage in late August, with appearances lined up at various festivals and venues across the country, culminating in a final performance in Red Bank, New Jersey in late October.

With a track listing that promises an eclectic mix of songs ranging from the energetic “4 Days of Heaven 3 Days of Work” to the soulful “Love and Life (Never Fear),” “Strike Up the Band” is shaping up to be a diverse and dynamic album that captures the essence of Little Feat’s music. Featuring collaborations with artists such as Larkin Poe, Molly Tuttle, Larry Campbell, and Teresa Williams, this album is set to enthral both longtime fans and new listeners alike.

As Little Feat prepares to take the stage once again, their 2025 tour is a testament to the enduring appeal of their music and the band’s commitment to delivering unforgettable live performances. With a lineup of shows that spans the country, fans can look forward to experiencing the magic of Little Feat in person and witnessing the timeless quality of their music in a live setting.
