As the summer approaches, music fans in Boston have reason to rejoice as iconic singer-songwriter James Taylor announced the expansion of his tour with the addition of two dates in the city. The six-time Grammy winner will be performing at the MGM Music Hall on August 26 and 27 as part of his extended tour that now runs through September.

This is not the first time that fans in Boston will get to enjoy James Taylor’s musical talents. In September 2024, Taylor graced the stage at Fenway venue for two unforgettable nights. He later returned for a private performance in October alongside 30 students from the Boston Arts Academy during a charity event for the school’s foundation. The recent announcement of these additional dates comes after Taylor confirmed his return to the Tanglewood Music Center on July 3 and 4, a venue that holds a special place in his heart since he made his debut there over five decades ago.

Throughout his illustrious career that began back in 1968, James Taylor has garnered numerous accolades and achievements. He has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama in 2015, and seen his music top various Billboard charts. Taylor’s 20th studio album, “American Standard,” released in 2020, reached number one on the US Top Rock Albums chart and won the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards.

Joining Taylor on stage for his Boston dates will be the indie trio Tiny Habits, a group that formed at Berklee College of Music in 2022. Known for their folk-pop sound, Tiny Habits has shared the stage with artists like Gracie Abrams, Ingrid Michaelson, and Noah Kahan, and have collaborated with prominent musicians such as Kacey Musgraves and Lizzy McAlpine. Their debut album, “All For Something,” will be celebrating its one-year anniversary around the time they kick off their tour with James Taylor in May.

Fans can mark their calendars for Friday when tickets for James Taylor’s new Boston dates go on sale at 10 a.m. on tour.jamestaylor.com. It’s a chance to witness music history in the making as this legendary artist takes to the stage once again to deliver unforgettable performances.
