Propagandhi has been hard at work on a much-anticipated new album, and today they have officially unveiled the details, including sharing the title track. “At Peace” is set to be released on May 2 through Epitaph Records, and it was co-produced by the band and John Paul Peters. The album was recorded in two locations, Winnipeg’s Private Ear Recording and vocalist-guitarist Chris Hannah’s basement studio, Oceanside Mountainview Studios.

In a recent press release, Chris Hannah discussed the album, stating, “Speaking for myself, this record might be a snapshot of me deciding whether I’m going to live out the rest of my life as Eckhart Tolle or live out the rest of my life as Ted Kaczynski.” He further explained that while the essence of the songs still comes from the same person who wrote their first record in 1993, the lyrics now encapsulate more despair compared to 30 years ago. The songs on this new album reflect an existential dread of trying to navigate through a society that is perceived as wholly failed.

The band, known for their staunch anti-fascist stance since 1986, has shared the title track “At Peace” to give fans a taste of what’s to come. The album tracklist features songs such as “Guiding Lights,” “Cat Guy,” “Rented P.A.,” “Vampires Are Real,” and more. This upcoming release touches on themes that are relatable and thought-provoking, showcasing the band’s evolution in addressing societal issues over the years.

This new album marks a significant point in the band’s trajectory, offering a perspective that is both introspective and critical of the current state of affairs. Propagandhi’s ability to blend their signature sound with poignant lyrics that challenge listeners to think deeply is evident in the title track and the overall tracklist of “At Peace.” Fans can expect a thoughtful and musically compelling body of work that continues to solidify Propagandhi’s status as a band that is unafraid to address significant social and political themes through their music.

Propagandhi’s commitment to using their platform to advocate for change and shed light on important issues remains a driving force behind their music. With “At Peace,” the band invites listeners on a journey of self-reflection and social commentary that is sure to resonate with fans old and new.
