Playhouse releases music video for new single “Promises”
Canadian band Playhouse has released a new video for their single “Promises,” taken from their latest EP, Broken And The Damned, which dropped on February 14, 2025. The video, directed by Jared Pollack, showcases the band rehearsing the track, interspersed with archival photos from their early days.
The band, made up of lead vocalist Peter Cat, bassist Danny Williams, guitarists KK and Eric “Freak” Westergard, and drummer Sam Harrison, worked with renowned Canadian producer Kevin Jardine on this EP. Jardine, known for his work with bands such as Faith No More and Mastodon, helped Playhouse craft a collection of songs that stay true to their signature sound while also appealing to new listeners. The EP kicks off with the powerful track “Black Clouds,” setting the tone for a record that follows the band’s established rock groove.
Playhouse, formed in 1987 by five high school friends, quickly gained recognition for their energetic shows and anthemic music. Despite early success with their EPs, “Little Monster” (1988) and “Tongue, Tied & Twisted” (1990), the band faced setbacks in the early ’90s and eventually went on hiatus. However, in 2016, Playhouse reunited and hit the studio with Jardine to record new material. Their comeback show in 2017 marked their return to the stage after 25 years, and they went on to open for renowned acts like Buckcherry and Warrior Soul.
The journey of Playhouse is a testament to resilience and passion for music. Their latest album, Broken And The Damned, is a testament to their enduring spirit and commitment to their craft. The band’s evolution over the years is reflected in the tightness and maturity of this new release, which carries on the legacy of their past work while pushing boundaries and exploring new territory.
With Broken And The Damned, Playhouse proves that some things never truly end, as they continue to captivate audiences with their music and leave a lasting impact on the rock scene. Their dedication to their craft and unwavering commitment to their artistry shine through in every note of the EP, making it a must-listen for both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
