2025 Music P.E.I. Awards winners announced

Music P.E.I. Week concluded with a vibrant awards gala where artists and producers were recognized for their outstanding work. Among the winners were Vishtèn Connexions, Absolute Losers, and Dylan Menzie, who each took home two awards during the ceremony held at Charlottetown’s Confederation Centre of the Arts.

Vishtèn Connexions received accolades for Album of the Year and Traditional Roots Recording of the Year for their album “Expansion.” This collaborative project with other Island artists showcased their talent and dedication to their craft.

Absolute Losers also had a successful night, winning both the year’s best single and pop recording for their tracks “By Fright” and “At the Mall.” Dylan Menzie, on the other hand, was honored as Songwriter of the Year, with additional recognition for the album art of his work “North American Dream Kid,” created by graphic designer Niyi Adeogun and photographer Justin Rix.

The 2025 Music P.E.I. Award winners represented a diverse range of musical talent and genres. From Achievement in Classical Music to R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, the awards celebrated the contributions of various artists to the Island’s music scene. Notable winners included Sarah Hagen for Achievement in Classical Music, Carlie Howell for Achievement in Jazz Music, and Tiffany Liu for Achievement in World Music.

In addition to individual accolades, awards were given for Album Art of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Educator of the Year, and more. Each category showcased the depth and richness of musical talent present on Prince Edward Island. Noteworthy winners included Tara MacLean for Contemporary Roots Recording of the Year, Maya Márquez for Musician of the Year, and Bettii for New Artist of the Year.

The evening also featured a special tribute to Rory O’Donnell, who received the Leo Cheverie Community Contributor Award for his significant contributions to the music community on the island. This recognition highlighted the importance of supporting and recognizing individuals who go above and beyond to promote and foster musical talent in their communities.

Overall, the 2025 Music P.E.I. Awards gala was a celebration of creativity, talent, and innovation within the Island’s vibrant music scene.
