Ghost unveils new song, introduces Papa V Perpetua, and announces upcoming album.
Ghost has made a triumphant return with the launch of the lead single from their upcoming album, Skeletá, and the introduction of Papa V Perpetua. Papa V Perpetua made its debut towards the end of the video for Ghost’s latest single, “Satanized.” The video serves as the backstory for the new leader of Ghost.
The Clergy shared, “We are pleased to announce that our perpetual state of anticipation has finally come to an end with the unveiling of Papa V Perpetua. Patience has been key in unlocking doors in life. Let us rejoice in the coronation of Papa V Perpetua and the revelation of Ghost’s sixth psalm, Skeletá. Watch the “Satanized” music video, a demonic narrative of possession like never before.”
Tobias Forge, the mastermind behind Papa V and the creative genius behind Ghost, discussed the new single with WRIF’s Meltdown, explaining, “It’s a track about the intensity of love and how that emotion can sometimes be misconstrued as demonic possession. However, the essence of the song is not related to demonic possession.”
“Satanized” is just one of the ten songs featured on Skeletá, set for release on April 25 and currently open for pre-order on Ghost-Official.com. The album serves as a successor to 2022’s Impera. Reflecting on the creation of the follow-up, Forge expressed, “While working on ‘Impera,’ I was deeply attuned to the global landscape, and the album echoed that sentiment – pointing fingers at external factors and worldwide events. However, midway through the ‘Impera’ tour cycle, I made the conscious decision not to replicate ‘Impera 2.’ I aimed for this new record to be more introspective, focusing on healing. I believed it was something that both I and our fanbase needed.”
