Swedish Death Metal Band to Release “Necro” Album on April 18th
Swedish death metal band LIK is gearing up to release their fourth album, “Necro,” on April 18th through Metal Blade Records. The band, known for their modern take on classic Swedish death metal, is set to unleash an album that is reminiscent of a classic shock-horror movie, filled with blood, gore, and over-the-top extremities. The cover art, created by Stockholm-based tattoo artist Jens Olsson, sets the tone for the album, which promises to be a thrilling and intense experience for fans of the genre.
Having previously released their critically acclaimed third album, “Misanthropic Breed,” during the pandemic, LIK was eager to get back into the studio for their latest release. Recording at NBS Studio (AKA Necromorbus Studio) in Söderfors, the band worked with uber-producer Lawrence Mackrory to capture their signature sound. According to vocalist/guitarist Tomas Åkvik, the goal for “Necro” was to create an album that stayed true to the LIK sound while exploring new territory.
With guest appearances by Nick Holmes, Linnea Landstedt, and Lawrence Mackrory, “Necro” promises to be a diverse and intense listening experience for fans of Swedish death metal. The album features ten tracks that showcase LIK’s seamless blend of old-school sounds and progressive elements inspired by bands like Dismember, At The Gates, and Entombed. According to Åkvik, the band wanted to create a record that was fresh and exciting while staying true to their roots.
Ahead of the album’s release, LIK has shared the first single, “War Praise,” a track that addresses the horrors of war. The band describes the song as a perfect representation of their sound, with enough new elements to keep things interesting. The music video for “War Praise” sets the tone for the album, offering a glimpse into the dark and brutal world of LIK’s music.
Fans can pre-order “Necro” in various formats, including CD, digital, and vinyl, with several color variants available. LIK will also be taking their new music on the road, with live performances scheduled at festivals and shows across Europe. The band’s intense and energetic live shows are not to be missed, giving fans a chance to experience the brutality of Swedish death metal up close and personal.
With “Necro,” LIK is set to solidify their place as one of the leading bands in the Swedish death metal scene. Packed with killer riffs, relentless intensity, and a touch of old-school nostalgia, the album is sure to please fans of the genre. LIK’s unique blend of classic Swedish death metal and modern influences makes “Necro” a must-have for any metal fan looking for a fresh and exciting listening experience.
