SLICER to make debut in Greece for the first time
SLICER, a Romanian black rock ‘n’ roll band, is set to make their debut appearance in Greece at the Decibel Rebel Festival III. RockOverdose had the opportunity to have an exclusive chat with them ahead of their first-ever show in Greece.
When asked about the band’s current activities, Slicer shared their excitement about preparing for their upcoming performance with the new lineup. They are also working on new songs for their next album, showcasing their dedication to creating fresh music.
Slicer’s inception was rather spontaneous, initiated by a friend’s idea to collaborate with Liv from Raizing Hell. The band’s name and logo were conceived in 2010 for a different project that never materialized. However, in October 2016, Slicer was born with a unique sound they aptly term “Death Rock n Roll.” Despite facing challenges during the recording process, they eventually released their album “Stalking the Night” in September 2023, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey.
When discussing their influences, Slicer drew inspiration from bands like Midnight, early Motörhead, Metallica, Misfits, Celtic Frost/Hellhammer, and The Cramps, among others. Their diverse musical background reflects their eclectic taste in music, encompassing various genres beyond metal and punk.
One notable aspect of Slicer is their distinctive image, characterized by each member donning a different mask during performances. This theatrical approach was inspired by artists like Alice Cooper and Mercyful Fate/King Diamond, emphasizing the importance of stage presence alongside the music. By combining visual flair with their raw energy, Slicer aims to deliver a captivating live experience for their audience.
Following the release of their debut album, Slicer is already working on new material for their upcoming record. With several songs in progress, including “Bring Back the UGH” and “Wizards of Steel,” they are eager to hit the studio and continue their creative journey.
Their upcoming performance at the Decibel Rebel Festival in Kavala, Greece, marks Slicer’s first venture into the Greek music scene. Thrilled about this opportunity, the band expressed their enthusiasm for connecting with Greek fans and potentially fostering future collaborations in the country.
Although this will be their inaugural show in Greece, Slicer’s frontman shared his fondness for the country, having attended metal events in Athens and Thessaloniki previously. Despite never performing alongside Greek bands before, Slicer is looking forward to expanding their musical network and sharing their music with a new audience.
In conclusion, Slicer extended their gratitude to their fans and supporters, signifying their commitment to delivering memorable performances and authentic music experiences. With a blend of passion for music and theatrical flair, Slicer is poised to captivate audiences worldwide, one electrifying show at a time.
