New Damage, a hard rock band based in Chester County, Pennsylvania, is the featured artist for March 2025 on MMR’s Local Shots. While broadly categorized as hard rock, the band’s music goes beyond this label, delving into a mix of genres and styles.

Established in 2021, the band comprises Nick Yelovich on guitar and lead vocals, Raif Groves on lead guitar, Ethan Creveling on bass and vocals, and Adam Costello on drums and vocals. From the outset, New Damage has embraced a range of influences, blending grunge, pop, alternative, funk, and metal elements in their eponymous debut album from 2023.

Frontman Nick Yelovich shares the band’s philosophy, stating, “We’re just trying to make the music we want to hear, we don’t really think about if a song isn’t metal enough or not accessible enough. Just if it fits the vibe we want now for whatever project we’re on.” The debut album was an exploration of their musical direction in real-time, setting the stage for a heavier sound in future releases. Influenced by bands like Alice in Chains, Pantera, Rage Against the Machine, Gojira, and Mastodon, New Damage draws inspiration from a diverse musical palette.

With recent singles “It Gets Uglier” released in December 2024 and “PBURG STOMP” in February 2025, New Damage is gearing up for the launch of another single, a concept EP, and a full-length album down the line. Their music promises to evolve to a heavier sound with each new project, staying true to their experimental spirit and eclectic mix of influences.

The band’s latest endeavor showcases a dedication to musical growth and creativity. Through a series of planned releases, New Damage aims to further explore their unique sound and expand their reach within the hard rock scene. Fans can anticipate a dynamic blend of genres and styles in New Damage’s upcoming projects, cementing their position as a standout act in the Philadelphia music scene and beyond.
