90s alternative rock legends, the Spin Doctors, have recently unveiled their latest single, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven,” from their upcoming album Face Full of Cake, scheduled to be released on April 11, 2025, through Capitol Records. The track, inspired by frontman Chris Barron’s thoughts on a rock and roll-themed afterlife, envisions Heaven as a place where the beer remains cold, the microphones are fresh, the guitars are vintage, and the amplifiers go up to eleven.

Having announced a summer tour for 2025 with Blues Traveler and Gin Blossoms, the Spin Doctors will commence their tour at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on July 4. Additionally, they are set to host a special album launch show at Brooklyn Bowl in New York on April 12, perform a four-night residency at Egyptian Theatre in Park City in June, and take the stage at prominent festivals like Boston Calling, Bourbon & Beyond, and Oceans Calling.

Chris Barron explained the concept behind “Rock ‘N’ Roll Heaven,” calling it “a hymn to an afterlife for the blue-collar musician and dedicated music enthusiast.” This track was the first one recorded during the Face Full Of Cake session and embodies the anthemic sound that defines this new era for the Spin Doctors. The LP’s first single, “Still A Gorilla,” showcased a heavier and noisier sound, receiving praise from publications like Rolling Stone, Relix, and Ultimate Classic Rock.

This forthcoming album, recorded at bassist Jack Daley’s Asbury Park, NJ studio, marks the band’s debut on Capitol Records and features the new bassist along with the original lineup of Barron, guitarist Eric Schenkman, and drummer Aaron Comess. The album’s production process was characterized by a laid-back atmosphere and energy, generating a rollicking feel that blends hook-forward tunes and free-spirited jamming with bluesy funk elements and classic rock ‘n’ roll vibes.

Chris Barron expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming record, stating that it combines the signature Spin Doctors’ sound with a mix of catchy tunes and more substantial material, reminiscent of their breakout album Pocket Full of Kryptonite but infused with the experience garnered over the years. With a musical journey that began in 1988 in New York City, the Spin Doctors achieved massive success with their debut album, Pocket Full of Kryptonite, which sold over ten million copies worldwide and produced hit singles like “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” and “Two Princes.”

After performing at major music festivals, opening for renowned acts like The Rolling Stones, and playing nearly two thousand shows, the Spin Doctors remain dedicated to their craft and ready to showcase their enduring passion for music. Their extensive 2025 tour schedule includes various headline shows, festival appearances, and special performances, promising both old and new fans an exciting, musically diverse experience that reflects the essence of the Spin Doctors’ iconic sound.
