Simple Minds reveals plans for live album and upcoming 2025 tour dates.
Simple Minds, the iconic Scottish rock band, is set to captivate fans once again with the upcoming release of their third live album, ‘Live In The City Of Diamonds,’ on April 25, 2025. This eagerly anticipated album follows the success of their previous live albums, “Live in the City of Light” in 1987 and “Live in the City of Angels” in 2019.
The new live album will feature a comprehensive compilation of 24 tracks spanning four decades, presented across two CDs and accompanied by a meticulously crafted 24-page booklet. Fans will also have the option to procure the vinyl edition in classic black or special clear versions, each containing 18 electrifying songs. As a sneak peek of the upcoming album, the band has already unveiled the preview track “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” to whet fans’ appetites.
Renowned vocalist Jim Kerr expressed his enthusiasm, emphasizing the band’s profound connection to live performances. Following the album launch, Simple Minds will embark on their exhilarating “Alive & Kicking” tour across North America, commencing on May 16, 2025, in Ridgefield, Washington. Joining them on this musical odyssey will be esteemed new-wave bands Soft Cell and Modern English. Moreover, the band will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their seminal studio album “Once Upon a Time” with captivating performances in the UK and Ireland, starting from June 27, 2025, in Glasgow. The tour will traverse key cities including Lincoln, Southampton, and Dublin before reaching its grand finale in Derby on July 8.
