Ukrainian singer-songwriter, Maryna Krut, also known as KRUTb, will be showcasing her musical talents at the First Parish Church in Portland this Thursday. Krut, a resident of war-torn western Ukraine, specializes in playing the bandura, a unique string instrument that produces enchanting sounds akin to a lute or harp.

Despite the language barrier, Krut’s vocal delivery is exquisite and emotive. Having traveled the globe to perform at various festivals, Krut has also personally witnessed the devastation in her homeland, often visiting the front lines of the war to entertain and uplift soldiers.

Her live performances, as seen in online clips, are described as captivating and spellbinding, with her bandura skills being truly impressive. The instrument seems like a natural extension of her body, showcasing her mastery and connection to the music.

Meanwhile, Irish rock band Inhaler is set to take the stage at the State Theatre in Portland. Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Inhaler has been making waves in the music scene with their latest album, “Open Wide.” The album’s fusion of rock and pop elements, evident in tracks like “Eddie in The Darkness” and “Little Things,” has garnered widespread praise.

Initially drawn to the band’s sound without much background information, one striking observation was the resemblance of Inhaler’s lead singer to the iconic Bono from U2. It turns out that Eli Hewson, the vocalist of Inhaler, is, indeed, the son of Bono, adding an intriguing layer to the band’s lineage and narrative.

Despite the initial comparisons, Hewson’s vocal style is distinct in its own right, contributing to the band’s unique identity. Inhaler’s rise to fame includes topping the charts with their debut album, “It Won’t Always Be Like This,” as well as opening for renowned acts such as Pearl Jam, Harry Styles, and Arctic Monkeys.

The band’s lineup, comprising Robert Keating, Ryan McMahon, and Josh Jenkinson, showcases a cohesive unit with a bright future in the music industry. An upcoming show in Maine presents an exciting opportunity for fans to witness Inhaler’s electrifying live performance and experience the band’s undeniable talent firsthand.
