Timelesz reveals new band members and upcoming single “Rock this Party” to be released on February 28
New members have joined the Tokyo-based J-pop group timelesz after the conclusion of the Netflix series, timelesz project -AUDITION-. An introduction ceremony at Universal Music Japan heralded a fresh beginning for the group.
Formerly named Sexy Zone, the group, comprised of Fuma Kikuchi, So Matsushima, and Shori Sato, transitioned to the name timelesz on April 1, 2024. This adjustment coincided with the launch of a national audition program in collaboration with Netflix, seeking to broaden the group’s membership. The show aired in September 2024, wrapping up in Japan on February 15, 2025, with the unveiling of the five new members: Takuto Teranishi, Yoshitaka Hara, Masaki Hashimoto, Shuto Inomata, and Taiki Shinozuka.
During the press event, Fuma Kikuchi remarked on the group’s transformation, saying, “We now consider ourselves ‘family,’ with our collective name being timelesz.” He emphasized the importance of enjoying the journey for their continued prosperity and shared his aspirations for a dome tour in the future.
The audition process attracted a staggering 18,922 submissions, with approximately 350 candidates progressing to the second round, 36 to the third, and 15 to the fourth stage, where additional talents from STARTO ENTERTAINMENT joined the fray. The final decision was made on February 5, 2025, with eight finalists competing for a spot in the group.
The inaugural song of the expanded eight-member timelesz, “Rock this Party,” is scheduled for a worldwide release on February 28, 2025, on various streaming platforms.
In addition, an album titled “Hello! We’re timelesz” will be digitally available, featuring 12 popular tracks from the Sexy Zone era, including the theme song from the Netflix documentary, “Anthem.”
