New Video Reveals April 6 Debut and More Cast for Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray Anime
The upcoming television anime adaptation of Taiyo Kuzumi’s Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray manga, which is based on Cygames’ Uma Musume Pretty Derby franchise, has announced its premiere date as April 6. Additionally, the series revealed more details about the cast and staff, the theme song artist, a key visual, and character visuals for Symboli Rudolf, Maruzensky, and Mr. C.B.
The opening theme song, titled “Koeru” (Surpass), will be performed by the rock group Alexandros. The newly announced cast includes Hōchū Ōtsuka as Ginjirō Musaka, Ayano Shibuya as Norn Ace, Yō Taichi as Rudy Lemono, and Shiori Izawa as Mini the Lady. Azusa Tadokoro will voice Symboli Rudolf, Lynn will portray Maruzensky, and Yurina Amami will play Mr. C.B.
The staff involved in the production of the anime includes Chief Animation Directors Yōsuke Fukumoto, Akira Takata, Atsushi Komori, Color Key Artist Nanako Okazaki, Art Director Osamu Hasada, 3D CG Director Nobuyuki Kamiya, Compositing Director of Photography Akane Fushihara, Editor Akinori Mishima, Sound Director Fumiyuki Go, Music Composer Kenji Kawai, and Animation Producers Takuya Chikamatsu and Sōta Machiguchi.
Directed by Takehiro Miura and Yūki Itō, the anime is set to air on TBS and 27 of its affiliates starting on April 6. The series will consist of two cours (quarters of the year) with a break in between. A special advanced screening for episodes 1 and 2 will be held on March 30 at the United Cinemas Aqua City Odaiba in Tokyo.
The manga’s story focuses on Oguri Cap as the protagonist and was first serialized in Weekly Young Jump in June 2020. The franchise also includes three previous TV anime seasons, a net anime titled Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Road to the Top, and a spinoff television anime called Umayon. Additionally, the new anime film Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Shinjidai no Tobira (Uma Musume Pretty Derby: Beginning of a New Era) premiered on May 24.
The Uma Musume Pretty Derby game, which launched in February 2021 for iOS and Android, allows players to take on the role of a teacher and trainer for the Uma Musume girls and guide them through their journey to becoming top idols and competing in the national sports entertainment show “Twinkle Series.” Despite facing delays in its release, the game eventually launched on PC via DMM Games in March 2021.
