Melvins share new single “Victory of the Pyramids,” album out in April 2023
The band Melvins 1983, known for their raw sound and featuring Buzz Osborne and original drummer Mike Dillard, has announced the upcoming release of their first full-length album in four years. Titled Thunderball, the album is set to debut on April 18 through Ipecac Recordings. As part of the announcement, the group also released a video for their latest single, “Victory of the Pyramids,” recorded by Toshi Kasai at Sound of Sirens Studios.
In a statement, Buzz Osborne expressed his intentions for Thunderball, noting that he aimed for the album to be bombastic and feeling satisfied that they achieved that goal. He also mentioned his desire to collaborate with electronic artists Void Manes and Ni MaƮtres, expressing admiration for their unconventional and innovative use of electronics in pushing Thunderball beyond his initial expectations.
The tracklist for the album includes songs like “King of Rome,” “Vomit of Clarity,” “Short Hair With A Wig,” “Victory of the Pyramids,” and “Venus Blood.” Fans can also catch Melvins 1983 on their Spring Break Tour, which kicks off in Bakersfield, CA, and includes stops in cities like Fresno, Sacramento, and San Luis Obispo, among others.
Following their Spring Break Tour, Melvins 1983 will join forces with Napalm Death for the Savage Imperial Death March Part II tour. The tour will take them across various cities in the US, including San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin, New Orleans, Baltimore, and numerous others, culminating in Berkeley, CA.
